Cheshire Police have been made aware of a scam currently going around .

A resident received a message on their mobile phone from the Department of Work and Pensions with the wording of 

“WARNING , FINAL REMINDER TO CLAIM YOUR £300 HEATING ALLOWANCE”

There was a link further down the message that was requesting you click on it , then the scammer was requesting personal details including a request to send them £1 .

Fortunately the resident became suspicious and reported this to us .

Police advice is to never click on links or attachments from unknown sources as this is how fraudsters can access your bank details
