Tool Theft

Dear Resident,

Vans are often targeted by thieves for the tools stored inside and unfortunately, we have seen an increase in Cheshire.

According to research conducted by insurance company Direct Line, tools are stolen from a tradesperson’s vehicle on average every 20 minutes across the UK.

You should -

  • Mark tools with a property marking kit and register them on a database.
  • Do not store tools in your van overnight.
  • If you must keep tools in your vehicle: Lock doors and shut windows, physically checking they are secure Set your alarm/immobiliser and act if you hear the alarm sounding.
  • Park in a garage or secure area covered by CCTV.
  • Park with doors against a wall Consider upgrading locks/fitting additional protection.
  •

For more information please follow the advice provided by the National Business Crime Centre by following this link - tool-theft-crime-prevention.pdf

    We hope this information helps.

    Kind regards,

    Crime Prevention Team

It is important to us that we know about the issues that cause you concern. We have set up a survey where you can tell us about the things you would like us to focus on in your area.
