Good evening,
You may remember that we recently told you about a resident that lost their loved one, that we had been supporting when they had been given diagnosis of Dementia. We got to know the family and regularly visited to check in to see how they were doing.
Since then, we received a phone call asking us to be in the funeral car with them and how much it would mean to them for us to be with them on the day. To date this is the biggest privilege that we've been asked to do in our role. So of course we said yes.
The funeral was on the first day of annual leave, but we knew just how much this would mean to them, if we went along to support them. So the day quickly came around, and as expected, there wasn't a dry eye in the church, that many people attended to the funeral that people were even crowded at the back of the church to say their goodbyes.
It showed just how loved they were. People from all different points of their life gathered together, some hadn't seem them in years, but still thought a lot of them. (So if you're ever in doubt, just remember that your always making impressions on people's lives every day, you matter to many people out there.)
People often hear the juicy stories about Policing, but these are the moments that stick with you, the moments that really matter.
We're so thankful that we were asked to be a part of their story. It'll be a memory that will stay close to our heart.
Stay safe.
