scam Warning: Scam text messages - NHS COVID Pass
Halton Trading Standards wants to make consumers aware of a scam text message highlighted by our partners at the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI).
The text messages which purports to be from the NHS regarding a Covid Pass is a scam. The aim of the text message is that consumers will provide their personal details, which could be used by the scammers for identity fraud. The text message states:
"NHS: We've noticed you haven't applied for your COVID pass, please follow the link to complete registration to avoid fees...". The message then links to a website made to look like a real NHS platform that asks the recipient to provide personal details, supposedly for registration purposes.
CTSI state the public should apply for an NHS COVID Pass or vaccination certificates on the official platforms, which are different, depending which country the resident lives, in England it is: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-pass/

If you or somebody you know has been caught out by a scam or fraud please contact one of our specialist officers, Linda or Sue on 0151 511 8785 or 0151 511 8775, who are already working with people in Halton who have lost thousands of pounds to scams.
If you need advice on anything else please contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline  or 0808 223 1133
